The Chicago Research Lab (CRL) is operated by the Center for Decision Research, an interdisciplinary center devoted to the study of how individuals form judgments and make decisions. Center researchers examine the processes by which intuition, reasoning, and social interaction produce beliefs, judgments, and choices. Understanding how and why people make decisions has important applications in a range of contexts, including management, marketing, finance, and public policy. Founded in 1977, it is the oldest academic center devoted to decision research.

Participate in our Research!
The CRL, which is located at Clark and Adams in the Chicago Loop (directions to the lab provided upon registration), offers opportunities for research participation during most days of the week. Once registered at our website, Chicago Research Lab Participants can make an appointment online, can come by on a walk-in basis during open lab hours, and may be able to participate in occasional online studies. Compensation for participation is typically on the scale of $12 per hour. Most of our studies are open to University/College/Trade School students only, and others are open to all.

Participants in our research, online as well as in the lab, must all be over the age of 18, and must be a United States Citizen or Permanent Resident of the United States. You will be asked to present a current, valid, ID (such as driver's license and/or student ID) in order to participate in our research. You must also check in at the security desk in our building lobby in order to be admitted to the Chicago Research Lab.
